Formed in 1998 at the Royal Academy of Music, the Quartet was twice awarded the Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Prize and the John B. McEwen Prize, before graduating with First Class Honours. In 2003, they made their successful Purcell Room debut. They have often performed with the Alberni Quartet, including performances of Mendelssohn’s ‘Octet’. Eager to engage with contemporary music, the Pavãos have worked with Anthony Payne, Arvo Pärt, Gyorgy Kurtag and John McCabe. |
