The Pavão Quartet has over the past seven years established itself as a highly-regarded and versatile string quartet.

In addition to a busy UK concert schedule, the Pavãos have performed in France, Germany, Israel, Monaco, Oman, Portugal and Syria, and represented Britain at the International Chamber Music Festival in Latvia.

Formed in 1998 at the Royal Academy of Music, the Quartet was twice awarded the Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Prize and the John B. McEwen Prize, before graduating with First Class Honours.

In 2003, they made their successful Purcell Room debut. They have often performed with the Alberni Quartet, including performances of Mendelssohn’s ‘Octet’.

Eager to engage with contemporary music, the Pavãos have worked with Anthony Payne, Arvo Pärt, Gyorgy Kurtag and John McCabe.
