Their initiative ‘The Glory of the English String
Quartet’ draws upon the wonderfully
varied and distinctive repertoire,
mostly from the first half of the 20th
Century, which they are committed
to bringing to a worldwide audience.
In addition to their concert activity,
the members of the Quartet have an
international reputation as chamber
music coaches.
We are fortunate to have such
champions of British music on hand
for the performance of Malcolm
Arnold’s Quartet no. 2, composed in
1975. His first quartet was performed
at Bournemouth Chamber Music
some years ago, and much enjoyed.
The Maggini complement the
Arnold quartet with two renowned
masterpieces of the classical era by
Haydn and Brahms.
They last appeared at Bournemouth
Chamber Music in 2002.

cogent drive and tangible dedication”
