We are pleased to welcome the
London Conchord Ensemble,
whose concert for us in 2007
unfortunately had to be cancelled.
They bring a concert of varied
delights from the virtuoso oboist
Emily Pailthorpe and three string
players, who continue our cycle
of Beethoven String Trios. The
Quartet by Jacob (1938) was
admired by critics from the start,
several commenting on the
contrapuntal sophistication and
demanding string writing with which
Jacob put across his essentially
cheerful musical ideas - noting,
in particular the playful rhythmic
complexity of the final Rondo.
R G Bratby
“The ensemble clicks perfectly, the
playing seemingly effortless and a regard
for precision never stifling the musicians
natural feeling for life and breath”.
